Its always happen to me also sometimes 2 to 3 enemies and same as myself and pet 2 to 3.. it happen before the fight and in the middle of the fight.

Exactly, but not only do 2 characters or 2 enemies appear, there are like 4 or 5... so the mission becomes longer... yes, it can be finished and they give you the reward of 1 xD instead of 5 , for having killed them all

I observed two instances where it happens.

It either appears randomly while in battle OR when the loading screen (the black transition thingy) loads twice. Like the transition appears twice.

While I was playing, that bug occurred, in which you could see multiple characters and enemies... you also had to kill everything.
